Are There Any Restrictions on the Home?

No matter if your new home is located in a subdivision with an HOA or in the country, there will always be legal restrictions on the home. In the City of Charlottesville, there are fence height regulations and home business zoning laws. In Albemarle County, there are animal restrictions, construction house size limitations, set back limits, and limits in the number of homes built on a lot. If you're located in an HOA, there could be more extensive guidelines, like allowable color schemes, landscaping or fence styles, swimming pool addition regulations, usage as a rental property, storing RVs, type of pet ownership, or home business restrictions.

You should never assume you can do whatever you want with your home and be sure to do your own due diligence to learn about any covenents or restrictions on your property.
